Icarus Clothing! First off, let's uncover the man behind the company, I only know you as Icarus, What's your real name? My real name is Jared Dessuit. How old are you? I am 24. I love Icarus Clothing, the designs are all original. Are you the only artist doing the work? No, I'm not. I have a team of talented artists that i work with, with a passion for the arts in all forms. Did you have any help along the way? Yes. I have had the ability to befriend some people who are successful in the fashion industry and they look out for me when I need guidance. One of Icarus's designs: "RazorBlade" Did you go to school for this? No, this is something i've planned since middle school but it was going to go by a different name. Where are you based out of and where can people get your clothing? We are based out of Virginia Beach, Va. right now the clothing is available online and locally. Well, about 2 years ago I planned to start this under a friends up and coming skate style clothing brand called DemINK. But things didnt work out that way and I decided a little over a year ago to do it on my own. What made you choose Icarus? Icarus was my favorite story in school. The moral of it is what struck me the most. Never lose sight of your goals or you could potentially crash and burn so to speak. Be sure to take heed of the wisdom from your elders. Basically, learning from others mistakes, and I thought that it spoke of believing in yourself. So I figured icarus would not be a brand name, it would be art work reflecting those ideals and thoughts. How long did it take to get where you are? Well, its taken a few years, we are still small time but its gonna take some more work to get where we want to be. Where do you see Icarus Clothing to go from here? I believe it has the potential to go global. Its something I want people to realize is made for them. Something that will help them realize they can start their own clothing line or become a musician or anything they want. Are there any new Icarus Clothing designs on the horizon? There are new designs coming up. We are constantly working and reworking things. I hope to see myself at the forefront of something instrumental in our way of life and thinking. What other passions do you have? My first love is writing. I'm a poet, songwriter, and music producer. Those things helped developed my creativity and ideas for icarus. When will my favorite design "The Flight" be on a shirt, so I can get one?! Haha a few people have asked us that but I'm not sure if that will happen but if it does you'll be the first to know lol. Do you have any advice for other artists looking to get into clothing designs and/or graphic design in general? YES! DO NOT GIVE UP! There are alot of obstacles that will get in your way, alot of haters, Alot of doubting yourself, but you have to remember to stay focused. If its your love and your passion, do everything you can to achieve the goals you set. Also; write EVERYTHING down. Especially things like, where you want to be in 5-10 years, the amount of shirts that u gave away or the amount of people who asked about your stuff. It's always good to have that.
